f 350 bouncing on freeway

hey everybody, i have a crew cab long bed that bounces non stop on the freeway when there is nothing in the bed. any tips on softening this issue? id put air bags, but i think it will only get rougher. i understand its a truck, but it rides worst than my high school lowered mini truck. thanks

It's a heavy duty truck so unfortunately it is going to bounce a little. What tire pressure are you running in the rear and are the tires D or E rated? One thing you can try is upgrading the shocks to something like Bilsteins. That's where I'd start, experiment with tire pressure and change the shocks.

Mine did it too until i had the tires balanced. The wieghts they put on the inside of the rim can come off making it a bumpy situation, right around 42 and again at 71mph. Check to make sure you have all your wieghts or have them pulled and balanced, sometimes tires wear funny causing them to get out of balance.

By all means, lower your tire pressure. I had mine (F250 FX4) in the dealer for some service and they rotated the tires and inflated them to the door sticker 75 PSI. It rode like a hard tail. I dropped them to 60 PSI, it was better, and then later dropped again to 45 PSI and it's pretty good. 'Course you'll have to air up before you load it up.

would think at 45 psi at highway speeds the tires would over heat and eventually come apart especially on front

That's running empty and the contact area looks about right. I'm certain it's good in the back but I might should go up just a bit in the front. These are the 265-17 BFG all terrain.

I run 60 rear 85 front
the bad thing about low pressure it will make them come apart was the big thing about all the upside down suv

The only solution I found to this problem is to ride in the slow lanes with the semi trucks. Mine rides like hell too when Im in so cal going to LA. I think it has to do with the wheelbase of the longbed crewcab and the expansion joints on concrete freeways. I tried real fast, not so fast, and the speed limit, all to no avail.

I forgot, I also have aftermarket lift springs that are softer than stock (the truck sags alot more with a load) but it still rides crappy. And I have airbags too.
