One onservation I would like to make is I don't believe that the stock CCV system pulls any vacum. The nipple going into the intake tubing is faced the wrong way to create any venturi vacum. Note this picture:

Thus venting intot he exhaust stream at the proper angle would be a better at pulling CC pressure out. Even venting to atomsphere is more free flowing than the stock system. yes it not best for the enviroment accroding to the scientist. But nearly all heavy duty and ag application diesel are draft tubed (vent to the air) anyway. Doesn't make it good but it still happening all the time.
No if you moved the CCV to just before it enters the engine the boost pressure would pressurize the crankcase which out be bad. It either needs to preturbo or vented to atmosphere or exhuast. There has been some who have built a vapor seperator and tried to seperate the oil vapor and return the "clean" gases back into the intake. here are few links to different CCV mods
Cat=0&Number=2327255
Whoops...Brain fart.....we are talking boost...my bad! My inexperience to turbo's is showing. It would have to be on "suction side"/pre turbo to draw a vacuum. DUH !!! In that case I like the exhaust evac except it's no good for cat converter I'm told. There again....based on heard/read info..
Seems to me I read a article about "our" PSD's having vacuum applied to crank case from factory ....I think on BAZ's web site..??
Guess I need to STFU and test crank case fir myself..just need to buy another oil cap for experiment..right now race car has my attention.

Yes I suppose venting the CCV to the exhuast could cause cat converter problems which I may or may not still have on my truck depending on who is reading this post! Ah who am I kidding my cat as be gone for a long time!

but more vaccum is needed at lower RPM, not enough exhaust flow I guess. What do you think of using the vaccum pump on the engine to pull the vacuum? I'd like to try it but it's assists the brakes so I have'nt messed with it. I'm not sure about the volume it is capable of.

I need to find a truck with the stock CCV and see how much vacuum they make. I've seen 8-10 inches of vacuum on the ones above but that's at peak exhaust flow.
Cuda_jim...I still have the stock CCV set up. What do you want to check? Tell me how to do the check and be VERY specific so I do it right. I'll let you know what I come up with.

I'll need to know pretty quick though. My 6637 is here and I get the exhaust elbow tomorrow. I'll be ordering the intake hose upgrade within the next month.
