Power Steering Leak
I just installed new ball joints, seals, upgraded the caliper pins, and installed a pair of hubs (one crapped out on a road trip and I figured the other was nearly as worn). Anyway, I"ve got one wheel jacked up and on a jackstand and one tire on the ground. I needed to move the hub so I could get in there with a wrench (I hadn't disconnected the tie rod end yet) so I unlocked the steering column and moved the tire full lock to the left, loosened two bolts on the hub, then moved the tire full lock to the right. When I climbed back under to undo the other two bolts, I've got a small (1/4 cup worth) of power steering fluid on the garage floor. I finished the axle/brake/hub job then climbed around a little lookiing for the source of the leak. No joy. When I fired up the truck, I have a buzzing noise under the hood.
I'll be back under truck in the morning when the light's better. I'm curious to see if I blew a seal, trashed the pump, or just what the heck happened. I'm guessing in any case, "It not be cheap".

Sounds like you just burped a little fluid out when you turned the wheels, without the engine running, and the noise you hear might be that the PS pump is low on fluid. Did you check and see how low it was on fluid, and or refill it to operating level. Just a couple of places to start, this might not be the culprit, but start there.
