Re greasing, on heavy equipment if you keep it greased regularly anything more than two pumps on the handle - you're wasting grease and the excess will catch dirt.
You'll probably hear a bunch of opinions re which brand to use. Valvoline makes great products and their synthetic oil is one of the best.
I was tought 25+ years ago that you should pump it out until you see the new grease come out and then you know that you have flushed out all of the old stuff in the joint including the dirt and grime. Then just wipe off the extra with a shop rag and you are done.
