Alright so I have taken my heater/ac ducts out in the cab, I pulled the insde of where the heater core is out and it is literally covered all the way to the front of nicotine and dust (i know nicotine because when I vaccumed it, I could smell it) i have a couple questions to asked by pictures
the red circle that is the heater core right?
and to get it out I know I have to pull the outside out
the blue circle I have already disconnected, the red circle I am confused about it...I disconnect it right?
well I hvnt taken it out yet becuase im still a little scare of the AC lines and confused by the stuff you sent me, do you have any pictures or anything?
You can change the heater core and the blower motor without disconnecting the A/C lines. If your A/C does not work you can disconnect those lines and it will help to move the condensor out of the way a little more.
Why not just clean replace the core? They are like 25 or 30 bucks.
Remove the heater hoses from the heater core.
Remove the screw fastening the A/C hose support bracket to the firewall.
The expansion valve is located on the right side of the evaporator core housing. Remove the insulating tape covering the valve.
Remove the two screws holding the plate over the opening that the A/C hoses exit the evaporator housing. Remove the plate and the seal.
well I dunno how to to take it out without taking those lines out because they go right into it ....
Right into what? The heater core is your red circled hoses. Remove those 2 and that free's up the core other than the retaining screws inside. The A/C lines are the blue circle. You do not need to remove those lines to change the heater core. Sure it is easier with the condensor out of the way but it can be done leaving the A/C hooked up.
ok, but how do I pull the (in the first pic) red circle out?
You don't. That's not the heater core, that's the A/C Evaporator. The heater core is buried deep behind it where the hoses connect to the front of the box (blue circle under the hood). You have to just get the evap as mobile as possible (which isn't much) without breaking the seal on the lines, then reach back into the box to get to the heater core. Three screws hold the core in, I think. You do this while the sharp fins of the evap are slicing and dicing your arms. All in all, a very fun little project.
I think I've got a couple pics from when I changed mine, I'll see if I can find them.
