Topless

I'm going to go topless for the first time, and I was wondering how everyone stores theirs when its off. I have no garage, and the inside of my top is finished ( fabric and such). I plan on leaving it off for a few weeks and I am concerned about bugs and moisture damage. Should I wrap it? or what? I might be able to get it into a storage shed if its not to heavy for two of us to get it through a man door, but only if it can take standing up against the wall on a 45* angle. What kind of weight am I looking at as well? Any help in this matter would be much appreciated.
Thanks

James

i believe 120lbs was quoted as the weight, and it should be stored flat. i would think the fiberglass would break if it was set on one of its edges.

it was discussed in detail here:

thanks 96eddie, that doesn't sound too bad, I was told the weight was upward of 300# so thats a relief, but i still need storage tips for outside.

When I had my 81 I would back up to my deck drop the tailgate, get myself centered under the top an walk it off onto the deck. If I can do that I don't think they are all that heavy. If I remember correctly it was lighter than the one on my 66.

The top is only 120# and if easy to take off. I suggest using two people. Now you have to set it on blocks to keep the seals off the ground. If you are worried about water you might throw a tarp over it

I usually don't leave it off for long, so I just put it on the ground untill I put it back on.

Best thing to do would be put it on blocks(4x4s as long as the top)on each side and put a tarp over it, and weight down the tarps edges.

Don't go out and buy on yet, but I'm pretty sure it's a T50.

I think it is T40 (be sure to get a security bit) one with a hole. Alos I have stored min leaning against a waal every summer for the last 13 years I set it on the back corners or for a few years I put 4x4s under the edges to protect the corner. Never had any problems with the top or leaking. It has now been sitting that way for 3 years since I got the soft top.

You can skip the "tamper-proof" version of the T40 Torx driver if you are willing to take a punch and snap out the center pins in the bolt heads. Otherwise T40 tamper-proof Torx as the guys have already mentioned.

Thanks guys for everything, I found a set of security bits for $30 and took off the top!
It went very well, that top is something awkward though. I stored it on my deck which will be temporary until I can find a better spot. Anyway I'll take some pics and post them soon!
