That could just be a fluke, you said it had been in for service. Well, maybe the tech reflashed the pcm and it somehow removed your limiter.
Hey stranger things have happened.
I was also trying to tell the person that posted right above me that if he had read the post made by Danny, he would have seen that danny had already made that statement long ago.

too scary. I have to say, that I didn't buy the truck new, but since I have owned it, the maintenance and repairs were not done at a Ford Dealer. It has a new computer now, cause one of my bonehead mechanics was changing the ignition module, with the battery hooked up, and it fried the computer. New computer sucks. It came out of another ford, not sure what, and the mech that did that job can't remember. Anyway, power is fine, fuel mileage is fine, but, when I take off in 1st, at about 20 MPH, the engine stops pulling, but keeps reving. Exactly like if you were holding your car with the brakes, and holding the gas to take off hard. It revs, but doesn't go anywhere. That's at WOT. If I let off of it, I can get up to about 25MPH , before I need to shift. Second gear, same story, 3rd, same as well. (in 20MPH increments) In 4th, hold on, cause it takes off like a bat.... Now, sometimes, when the truck is cold, (sitting overnight), It will not do it. 1st gear will take me right up to 30-32 MPH before I need to shift, etc, etc. This only happens once in a while.
Is it possible that this could be anything else other than the computer? Would a chip help this? Should I go have the computer reprogrammed? Or toss it out, and get a new one that works for this truck for sure? All ignition components are new (except coil), new fuel filter, air filter, and fuel pump. I should add, this happened in March 99, 2 months after I bought the truck, so I have been living with this ever since.
