True duals straight pipe no mufflers and no cats with some headers thats probably the loudest i dont think 2 inch pipe would be louder i hear the bigger the pipe the louder it is so 3 is big enough if you go dual go 2.25 or 2.5

I was wondering the same thing.

Noise just makes everyone make fun of you when they see how slow your truck is. I'm certain that duals with headers and Flowmaster 40's are plenty loud enough already.

My 77 F150 with a 460 had headers with 2.5" duals to the old glass packs that went out each side in front of the back wheels. It would just pop everytime it cammed over at idle, the girls loved it, their dads hated it! It would set off car alarms when I nailed it.

The 2001 5.4L has Gibson headers, a custom Y-pipe, "custom" cat, a Vortex muffler, twin NASCAR style pipes out the right side in front of the back tire. It has a nice bass rumble at idle, nice sound under 2000 rpm and roars when it hits 3000 rpm+

Both are high enough off the ground to point right into a cars window. I am very aware of this and try to keep the noise down when the poor soul is doing me no harm. But if someone gave me a look or tried something I would let them have it.

Well, thats some very mature behavior I'll tell you that. Sure there are times you just can't help it, but I wouldn't spend money just to be able to do that.

I spent the money to get performance out of the engine, not blow out hear drums. But the cars with rap music so loud I can hear it over my truck one mile behind me normally had a surprise when they got to me. And this was 20 years ago, I have matured a little since then, not much but a little.

Dont forget about the megaphone tips on the straight pipes. My neighbors just loved my 460 with open headers. NOT
