auto shutdown
hello everyone, was thumbing thru the owners man. and found out the 1997 expy has an auto shutdown when the truck overheats ( goes from 8 cyl to 4 cyl ) . could the computer be overran to think its overheating so that it would run on 4 cly for gas mileage just a thought. anybody heard of this before.

I have experienced the auto shut down first hand when my upper radiator hose came off (twice). When the truck is running in fail safe mode, there is no power and you are very much aware that you are running on 4 pistons.
I don't think there would be a way to make this work.
