I am looking at expeditions and am wondering what kind of real world mileage an 06 4x4 would get. I really want a psd excursion, but they are really bringing a premium right now.
I have an 04 5.4l 4X4 w/81k that gets a consistant 14.6 mpg highway @75-80 mph. Although most of my driving is on the highway, the mpg's Dont seem to change much in the city. However, the ride and reliability of this truck has more than made up for the less than average fuel economy.
the exursions are ok....they are bigger, but pretty much a superduty with back seats. i love my expy. it rides smooth, and the mileage is ok. before my s/c swap, i averaged anywhere between 15.5-17 on the highway, and 13-14 around town. after the swap, in-town is about the same(lead foot), but the highway skyrocketed. i have seen as high as 23, but usually average 21 at 75-80 mph.
I have an '06 Luxury Navigator 4x4. Just finished a 2,913 mile round trip from Phoenix to Coeur D'Alene, ID and back. I track my mileage regularly. The Navi sits in the driveway mostly (I commute on a Suzuki Volusia - 45 mpg's!!). Only 13,000 miles on the Navigator (after the trip).
Anyway..to answer your question....
Normal day-to-day mostly city driving.... 12-13.5 mpg's
Highway mileage on the Idaho trip averaging 75 - 80 mph... averaged 16.85
Difference between my Navigator and the Expy you're looking for is my Navi has the 6 speed transmission, which I'm sure helps the mileage department.
On a side note. The Navigator will run on 87 octane, but mine sure doesn't like it. 91 octane is all mine gets now.
