Bear in mind that it's just a hair-brained idea that flitted past: I may be able to provide a place to work without hassle, and my landlord has been ASE certified for a few decades: I just haven't talked to the guy...and it's after beer:30.

Like Art said, a few guys who have been around a wrench can blast through this; that's a good thing. If you happen to be the dirtiest, sweatiest guy there with skinned knuckles; that's a good thing also. If the Mrs thinks I'm working for you, she'll be holding out her hand for sure. Getting the swap done in a timely manner is a very good thing.

The ASE cert is important for warranty claims. Rebuilders want to know that Johnny Shadetree didn't let a bird crap in the intake. I don't know what would per$uade my landlord to $ign off, but he does know old Fords. He even owns one with a 390.

I do have some extra tin: rear sump pan w/oil pick up, timing cover, valve covers. It would be easy enough to put covers on the replacement before disabling your truck.

That's just my hair-brained ideas anyway. I think if you want to evaluate them any further it would be appropriate to communicate outside the forum. Use the addy in my signature.
