Hey Guys,
I recently bought this 1997 F350 and I think I should have kept my 1994 460 but....
I saw this when I was cleaning the K&N filter. How much trouble am I in? TJ, you indicated that I could just change the blades. That sounds relatively inexpensive. This truck is getting more costly every day. Check out these pics.
Wow, Yours is really pretty bad. I just bought my new wheel of ebay. I bought the one for the superduty cause it still works for ours and it is suppose to move more air. It was only 15 bucks or you can also get an exact replacment that runs up around eighty I think. The instal is simple from what I have heard I have not put mine in yet. They say its just a matter of getting the DP off and getting a socket on the back of it(turbo shaft). You dont even have to remove the turbo. Hope that helps.

Wow, that turbo took a kick in the face.
Like mentioned already, that would be your cheapest route, an E-bay wheel.
Loose the K&N, I've never been happier when I got rid of mine, even though your damage is a foreign object and not dusting IMO.

Thats not good! it can be replaced as we talked about earlier. I agree with David that that is from a larger object and not from dusting but if you keep the stock air box and that K+N you will have a dusted engine. So I would replace the turbo impeller and do a kwik filter or Tymar all ASAP. that wheel could break up or cause turbo destroying vibrations from being out of balance.

The super duty wheel is worse than our wheels are. our compression wheels are an upgrade for the super duty trucks.

Casey is right that it does move more air but the SD wheel cuases surge if your power levels are high enough. So in one way its and upgrade in another way its a down grade. The superduty guys would be best if they kept their stock wheel and just forked out more money for the ported ATS housing.
Casey, where did you get the wheel for $15? I can only find the banks wheel for $90?
Where can I get the airfilter to replace the K&N?
I am still trying to get the folks at Dorman to answer my question about the pedal assembly. No one can tell me if it has both the TPS and the idle validation switch. At this point, I think I will buy it anyway just to get the TPS. Trying to get this done by the 4th of July for my camping trip.
There are the $15 on ebay usually but right now I can't find any. Call Ron from the link I gave you and he should have one for you if you want to go that route. The SD wheel moves more air but if you up your power at some point it will cause turbo surge.
To replace the K+N and your air box you can get a 6637 filter from Napa and a short piece of 4" exhuast pipe. If you search Kwik filter here or in the superduty section you will see it.
I dont know half as much as the rest of these guys, but I do know that the wheel that I bought for the superduty's looks like it would grab more air. I have what every one has stock on theirs also, and half the blades on it are pretty short so to me it seems to get less air the other one has long blades all around. I guess I'm just cheap. I will be putting mu new one in this week. I cant tell you why their isn't one for sale now. They usally have two or three running at the same time. Good luck let us know how it goes.
yes i also am still learning. the only reason i said that is b/c i've been told that our blades are the same as the wicked wheels people are putting in the super duty's.
Im bring this up again. I'm having problems with putting my new wheel in, and I think I almost broke my hand doing it. I have everything ready to go except the bottom bolt on the turbo(intake side of course), and yes I have the 1/4 swival and the 5/16 socket(12 point). I cant get it on the bolt. Its like their isn't enough space for the socket and swival. How did you guys get that bottom bolt. I spent a couple of hours killing myself trying to get on this bolt. I fear that I'm going to have to remove the turbo to get to it. The wheel is even loose already. I just need that bolt out. Thanks for any ideas.
well I am not much help as I haven't done it with the turbo in the truck. Pretty much if you can't get the socket on it you may not have any other choice. maybe somebody has a trick for you.
