'86 efi 5Lt Electrical problem????
Hoping someone in here can help an aussie with a problem. My effie has a problem, I will try to explain as best I can. Normally when you turn the key on you get a click, then the whirr of the fuel pump, I am not getting this.
It will crank over but it wont fire and start. I have had this problem now for a while, it seems to be intermittent but it is very annoying. I have replaced the computer, the coil, the modulator, spark plugs, distributor leads. relays, it has two new batteries in it. The wiring loom has also been checked and no problems there.
We have had an auto electricain and a mechanic look at it, but all seem baffled as to what the problem may be as they cant find anything wrong, but it wont start.
I must also add that we run LPG and Petrol (gas) in the effie, normally we start on petrol and then turn over to gas after about 12km.
Can anyone help, maybe suggest something that we havent thought of.

Fuel pumps beginning to fail? The absence of the click/hum sometimes indicates your pump isn't turning on. Check your fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail when this happens.
It might be either the Low pressure pump in the tank or the Hi Pressure pump on the frame rail, but I'd bet on the Hi Pres pump failure.
Change filters regularly - with the world wide gas shortage we've had a rash of filter/pump failures the past 6 months.
