Well if you read my other post I told briefly about the truck.(https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/622113-86-a.html) Turns out my papa cant even get into the truck anymore due to his health but still wants to hold on to it for a little while. Why? Because he said hes not giving another man a truck that doesnt run right.
What the truck is doing is when its cold it will sometimes shut off and if your idling and turn the AC on it will die. Hes got a mechanic he trust that said he'll take care of it. I told him I would fix but he is stubborn
But I also found out that my dad had bought him a dash pad kit last year to cover up his cracking dash so therefore thats one less thing I have got to mess with. Also the mileage is now 101,348. But I drove the truck all weekend and other than a few minor things it runs like a champ.
That's a great lookin' truck your'e getting there! My 86 F-250 in my gallery has the exact same paint scheme on it right down to the camper shell. I kinda had to do a double take when I saw your pics, I thought it was Hoss!
takes pretty good pics for a phone, whats it got in it?
It was my wife's LG something. I can go get a model # if you really wanna know. I think like 1.3megs ???
The truck has seat covers on it since the day he bought it. I pulled back the seat covers and was shocked the fabric was almost brand new looking. I always thought the seat cover was the actually seat so it showed wear. The original seats are solid red (sure you guys know) but they are in unbelievable shape for 21 year.
I am so proud I will be getting this truck. Mainly because it was my papas but also because of the great shape it is in.
First detailing job will be the engine bay though.
oh yes...and terribly sorry about your dads health. be sure to give him many rides to the icecream shack in his old baby!!!
Thanks, Its my grandfather but he acted just like a dad would anyhow. Hes got congested Heart Failure and there saying its not looking good. He bought the truck a few years before he retired and was in construction. There's a picture of him lifting this big old wooden toolbox into the truck from the side.He still has the toolbox with all his tools still in it. That same toolbox I would bust an o-ring trying to lift it like he was in the picture. Its a shame to see him in his current health. But hes probably the happiest old man you'll ever talk to and boy the stories. Better sit down if you start a conversation.
Sounds like a delightful gentleman.Reminds me of my Grandfather when he told stories of his early days in the US.He came here from Germany far enough back, that his first job was riding horseback and chasing Indians with the US Cavalry. He passed in 1955 when I was 10.Still miss him.Outstanding truck.
makes me miss my truck, it's only 3 days, and 240 miles away, and makes me miss my grandpa, he's like that too, with the stories, but he hates old trucks, "those old trucks ain't worth fixin'" but he's the coolest grandpa i know. 87 years old, still squirrel huntin' or boatin' almost daily.
