Friction modifier: My book seems to say 4 oz for the 9" and 8 oz for the larger Dana 60/70

Regarding testing the ltd slip with the parking brake - I've been a licensed driver since 1970 and I've never heard of such a thing. However, I don't claim to know 'bout everything, but................

I'd say it's more likely you just jammed the brake shoes into the sides of the drum doing that. Did it ever straighten out and drive normal afterwards?

yah, it drove normal, but i think that it just helps it lock the diff then when you let go it drives fine, b/c it wouldnt do it on slippery surfaces like it said itl engage on itself?
