the truck ran good before changing the plugs and wires and cap..........it has only 60,000 original miles and the wires were original from factory before i changed them. now it acts like its getting to much gas..... i have checked and rechecked all plugs and wires and even got another set from the parts store and still runs like crap.... its very frustrating.

Something similar happened to a friend of mine many many years ago. After a tune up car was running horrible and died would not start. We drug the offending car out to my house in the country and finaly got it started. Was a 4 cylinder, and it ran terrible. Entire car was shaking at idle. Sounded like one or more cylinders not firing. Old time diagnostic tool was pull off the plug wires one at a time while it was running. Theory is when you pull the wire from the bad cylinder, doesn't make any difference in the way it runs. This one was shaking so bad I had hard time getting hold of the first wire. Friend was sitting in the car reving it up to keep it running. I had a shop rag in my hand for insulation, pulled the first wire and hummmmmmmmm smooth running. Friend hollered hey ya fixed it!!. I'm standing there with a plug wire in my hand and my mouth hanging open. Hollered back It ain't fixed yet. Put that wire back and pulled another one. Same result. Didn't matter which of the four wires I pulled, it ran pretty smooth.
Told him I'll be right back, got to make a phone call. Called an old guy I know that is a great mechanic. He said you got an internal crack in the distributor cap. Probably cracked it when he did the tune up, but might been bad from the factory.
Tapped up one plug wire so it would not short to ground, and he drove the car into town and got a replacement cap. 3 weeks latter I'm at a neighbors house and he comes up the drive real slow driving a small combine. It was running really bad and could barely make it up the drive to the barn. Neighbor said damn thing is barely running and I got to get this field done today. Can you look at it? Sure be glad to look, but where is the engine? Turns out the engine was an old chevy 6 cylinder. Had to kind of crawl into the combine to get to it. I pulled one wire and HMMMMMMM smooth running. Hollered at him give me some electrical tape. He finished his field and thought I was a genius.
This happend 2 times 3 weeks apart nearly 30 years ago. I have never even heard of it happening to anyone since then, but just maybe same thing is wrong with yours.
Good luck Frank

Just a thought, but you could try putting the original parts back on if you still have them. Just to see what happens then.

Triple check all the work you did and all the areas you worked in. Even if you think you've confirmed it. I changed the wires on my Girl friends 99 150 V-6 and Its got this weird thing were on the driver side it goes 465 and 123 on the other. It took me a while to figure that one out....

Check the position of the cap make sure the rotor is all the way, gently press every wire until you are sure they are seated, Check the coil area. there is a air tube on the passenger side that may have been messed with accidentally. Pull all the plugs and re gap em.

What brand of plugs and wires? If the plugs are bosch ditch them! They are junk, go back to motorcraft. They are the only plugs that I've ever had make an engine idle rough right out of the box.
