has anyone heard of this I have a 2000 X and just installed a brake controller but the guy at the trailer shop told me to make sure that I have some relay in place, he didn't know where it was or even where to start looking all he said is that I need to hook it up to my trailer, push in the emergency brake and see if the trailer tires lock up if not then I need some relay.. I am driving a long distance on Friday to pick up a trailer with a bobcat on it and don't want to run into any problems
I assume it is just like the Super Duty trucks, and the relay will be under the hood in a small box right next to the big relay box (by the brake master cylinder). They should give the numbers in the manual. There is one relay for the trailer brakes, and one for the trailer tow battery charge wire. There are also Maxi Fuses under the hood that you need to make sure are in place.

Time for me to have a look too... This will answer a lot of questions in my "I wonder why" book.
