Oil drain plug torque specification

Hello. I've been looking around the web for some time and still can't find the torque spec for the drain plug on my 2000 7.3L diesel F-250 Superduty.

Anyone know the numbers? Thanks in advance.

I just tighten mine till it feels good and tight. I've had no problems so far with this technique.

I don't know what the specific torque needs to be, but I' guess around 60ft.lb would be just fine. All you really need is enough so that the plug doesn't unscrew.

Agreed, and so that it doesn't leak either. My Fumoto arrived today. I am in for my last messy change. My pan holds 10 quarts. Do the math. I may begin to enjoy the oil change like in the wife's truck.

Thanks everyone. I did finally find the torque spec after talking with a Ford diesel technician: 23 ft/lbs.

And if you strip it you'll need to replace the oil pan which apparently requires that the engine be pulled. OUCH!
