updates, got the cab positioned correctly, good bye firewall, and the whole thing fits in the garage, the motor has plenty of room, even the stock radiator is going to work, which is good cause it has both a oil cooler and trans cooler in it
From the engine side picture it looks like you won't have a lot of room for the gas pedal. Am I looking at it wrong.
The 56 with the viper engine (Anthony from N.Y.) at the supernats in 06 had that problem. He said it was very uncomfortable to drive on longer trips. No room for the pedal. The firewall had been moved back about 4" where the engine sits.
If you want pics of his install let me know. I have them in my photobucket somewhere.
i cut the chunk of firewall out of the gmc that holds the brake booster, brake pedal, gas pedal, and steering column, the plan is to cut the rest of the ford firewall out on htat side and graft the piece in, it will actually protrude into the engine bay several inches, but there is nothing in the way there, and is how it was on the donor
and on shortening the frame, as measured last night the bed will be around 8 1/2 to 9 feet, which might look decent, but wont know till i get some bedsides bent and the fenders up there
Take a good look at how close to the driver's door the steering wheel will end up. You may be able to compensate for this by moving the steering box , etc before you get too far along on the project.

already taken car of, the gmc box is in line with cutout in the firwall of the ford, plus the gmc steering shaft as some play in it to allow a little side to side movement
also, the inside of cab width arent that differnet, i think the inside of the ford cab is 54" and the chevy 58"
