cool, i have a pair of those, and work at a steel shop so.........
At Harbor Freight you can buy the mini appliance dollies for approx. $10. Which is cheaper than what it would cost you to buy the 4 casters its made out of. The dollies are approx 12" x 14" with 4 casters. I've been thinking of picking up several for engine dollies.

good call, too bad i just left there like three hours ago, o well, there is always tomorrow
Trying to be sneaky by just sticking a wheel in the fender. I will say right now you won't be able to make your truck that low with the chevy frame unless you channel the body.

yeah i know, just measuring to see what all i have to do to squeeze the new motor, so far looks like a slighty larger trans tunnel, and trim of couple of inches off the inner fenders

What are you putting in there that would require trimming the inner fenders and enlarging the tranny tunnel?
Even a Chrysler Hemi or Viper V10 fits without any interference. I have a CSB 400 with a T56 6speed tranny (a large tranny) that only required cutting a new shifter hole. I can stand between the engine and inner fenders and there's ~ 2" of clearance above the tranny and the original cover?
Ax,
You can fit big engines and trannys easily on the stock suspension but once you get a suspension crossmember then it normally has the engine raised higher and your trying to keep the body as low as possible. I had to do the same on my truck but the engine fits nice and level.
Just a comparison:
Your engine isn't much higher than the inner fenders.
Where as mine is almost 5" higher than the inner fenders.

its because i am using a different frame, so the motor is not as close to the radiator in relation to the center of wheels, but i wont know how bad it is till i start fitting
and the inner fenders look like they will interfere with the manifolds, but hard to say again until i actually get there
progress, until it started raining, had to notch the rear of the cab a little, got to bolt up the front clip next, and make sure everything will fit under the hood
quick question, i know i could go out and measure it, but i am at work right now, what is the lug pattern on the 55 f250, i have found tons of info on the f1's but none for me
I think its the standard 8 lug pattern that Ford, Dodge, and GM all used up until the mid 90's until they went metric.
Ford and Dodge 8 hole wheels are the same, the GM 8 hole wheels have a smaller center hole so they don't fit over the full floating rear axles on the Ford and Dodge trucks (but they will fit the front hubs on 2WD)
At least thats kind of what I remember, I havent owned a 3/4 ton or larger truck in awhile
