Great info on this thread! BACKGROUND: I just bought a '98 E-150 4.6L 4R70W to replace my '89 E-150 5.8LW Fuel injected 3 speed Auto.I must say I'm very impressed with the "low end reponse" of the 4.6L (almost as good as the 5.8L to a lite-foot like me)
However I'm dissatisfied with the "Parkway Power". I don't want to race around or "burn rubber" but I'd like some throttle response when passing or climbing a hill at parkway speeds. When cruising at 50 to 60 MPH I hit the gas and NOTHING HAPPENS!(at least compared to my 5.8L)
Is there a chip made for the '98 E-150 Van that will help my "high end" power without detracting from the "low-end"? How much improvement can I expect? Will I need to switch to high octane gas? Will I still get 30% improved gas mileage over my 5.8L?
If I decide the chip is for me how do I buy it from you? Thanks in advance for your answers.
Either brand that we sell, Superchips and DiabloSport, will help your power from idle through full speed. The chip will add 10% more horsepower and 31 Ft/lb torque. You will need to use premium fuel to keep the engine from pinging. Your mileage should stay the same, it will not decrease.
