Pyrometer

I have a autometer pyrometer. This one acts different from the one I had in my other truck. When I stop the truck and let the EGT cool down to about 400 degrees and turn the switch off the needle stays at 400 degrees untill I open the door and it drops down to zero or lower and stays there till I turn the switch on again and goes back up to about what the manifold has cooled down to. Is this normal or do I have something wired wrong. I have the 12 volt wired to the switched hot wire and the light in the meter wired to the dash dimmer wire.

Thanks

depending on what year truck you have, the power is still hot until you open the door after you shut the truck down... once you open the door you lose power to power windows and other accessories.. that's why the gauge still reads the current temp. mine does the same thing....it's normal
