I have the V6 with a 4R75E transmission.

I was told the 4.2L, 4.6L and 5.4L all share the same transmission.

(Well, you can get a M5OD with the V6.)

Page 11 of this says 4R70E:

https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/non-html/2007/vs_pdf/f150_07bb.pdf

Dunno who to believe now. Is the 4R70E a bad transmission?

I'm still curious, even though the documentation points the the 4R75E. Is there a physical way to verify what transmission it is?

The way I understand it is that they redesigned the 4r70w tranny for the improved torque of the 3v 5.4, and called that the 4r75e. When they redid the electronic tranny controls they renamed the 4r70w to 4r70e.

You should have the 4r70e. This is the same tranny they used to stuff behind the 2v 5.4L v8s, and is known to be very reliable.

Well, here's an official OASIS report for your truck. Sure enough, it says you have the 4R75E tranny. I too thought that only the 3v 5.4's came with that tranny. I thought that all the others came with the 4R70E. Oh well!
