A tranny cooler is a pretty simple component, just like a radiator. I'm not sure if there are really any that are better than others, you just want to make sure you get a big *** one That's my understanding.
I have gotten 2 defiant brands from the parts stores and they are both made by the same co. the last ones I bought were Hayden. I only buy the big ones. they come in about 3 sizes. if you live in a cold Clement you can get a thermal bypass that will let your transmission warm up when it is cold out. but here we don't use them. I install about 3 a week and have not had any problems. but don't and I repeat don use the little plastic pines they give you to hold them to the radiator. the vibration will cause them to ware a hole in your radiator. I have repaired many trucks that have had this happen. get some strap steel and make some brackets to Mont them to the radiator support.
5000 lbs thats nothin for a 351. Ive had mine hooked up to 11,000 lbs before.
Also the truck looks great w/o topper. Not a fan of the truck caps. But looks great now.

I don't think I'd feel comfortable with that much weight behind my E4OD. I would have liked to have a little more control over my RPMs during my haul. You driving a manual or an auto?

Yeah, I've pulled close to that behind my '87 and she pulled it just fine, I wished I would have had some E rated 16's on the back end, but the ol 302 just chugged down the road, but unlike Scandacious I have a T18 instead of a E4OD, so I could completly control my RPM's.
No problems. I am thinking about doing a custom cold-air intake box because the FIPK, while increasing power, also substantially decreases fuel economy because of the hot air being pulled in.

Yes ive got the auto E4OD in mine. Only 88k though. And the F150 didnt come available with 351 and Manual Trans. Only 351 & automatic
you sure thats a 5.8L... the more i look at it, thats a 302 intake... 351 had 2 seperate hoses while your has one big hose that splits at the end....
The two intake pipes indicate that the engine would be speed density, not a 351. The single split pipe that my truck has indicates that it is MAF. The 351 can be either speed density or MAF, although from what I have seen the 351 only came in MAF in California. Thank you for insulting my intelligence by asking if I know which engine is under my hood
