I uploaded my edge evo. today and on my way around town the turbo made a weird *** noise....stopped let it cool down went towards home...on my way home it blew..OIL EVERYWHERE out the intake the exhaust everywhere...smoking like no other...so i started takeing the turbo out tonight and i am almost done..I am unbolting it to the...w/e it bolts to...does any one know how many bolts are holding the turbo down..I have two out one loss and Im not sure if there are two or three more i can't tell.....thanks guys
You probably lost the thrust bearing, which in turn unseated the piston-ring seals on both ends of the shaft and caused the oil leaking everywhere. The turbo is trash. I might have to come look at it.
Two bolts hold the turbo to the aluminum pedestal. Four bolts hold the pedestal to the block. There is a Marmon V clamp at the exhaust inlet on the turbine housing. Takes some poking at with a hammer and a prybar to pop the clamp loose.
okay now im starting to sound like an idiot...i have the y pip off everything unplugged..and two bolts the the left of the turbo out...and Im lost..can someone please explain to me..in a little detail about what to do next..im soo sorryy..thanks guys!
there are two bolts in the middle of the turbo going down through the turbo in the pedistal. You have one half of the pedistal unbolted you need to get the turbo off to get the other 2 off. Look between the exhaust housing and the intake housing. The square thing has 2 bolts going through it.
No, all 6 bolts are vertical. You must remove the turbo before removing the pedistal, if you have the two long bolts out of the turbo it should just lift right up if you have the marmon clamps d/c and seperated.
