On my 2008 F-450 under exterior options it states
225/70R 19.5 G BSW A/S Tires
Then under Optional equipment it has
225/70R 19.5 G Traction.
This was a 190.00 add on. What is it?
Did you order your truck with 4X4? if so it could be those are the (code TBL) All Terrain tires. I have it listed as a $250 option. But they are LT245 OWL AT 17

I was lucky it saw it being delivered on transporter and bought it before they unloaded it..lol
Yes I have the Off Road 4X4 but I have the Continental Hwy tires.

They're just more of an off-road tire. The front two remain A/Ts and the rears are replaced with the traction ones. From what I've heard here and at the dealership the A/T's are better for the ride quality. Tractions can make the back end seem a little loose on groved pavement at highway speeds.
SouthTexasDiesel has it fairly well covered except that the front tires are changed as well, here is the direct quote from the 08 F450 Order Guide.
Order code "THB"
"225/70Rx19.5F BSW Max Traction – (4x4 only) – (incl. 4 traction
tires on the rear & 2 traction tires on the front. Not recommended
for over the road applications; could incur irregular front tire wear
and/or NVH. Spare is traction tire)"
The A/S tires were standard equipment and your truck had the "THB" option which changed the tires to a more agressisve traction type tire.

The F450 only comes with 19.5-inch wheels and tires.
Quote: 225/70Rx19.5G BSW Traction Tires include four traction tires on the rear and two All-Season tires on the front. Spare is BSW All-Season.
But where you got your information must have been where I read that they are not recommended for on-road use.
I got my info off the last copy of the Order guide, but FMC is known to make running changes and the FMC public Website and Order guides do not always get updated quickly. Some changes only initially show up on the dealer computer when the dealer orders the vehicle.
So either one of us could be correct as far as the front tires go. Best thing for jam105 to do is look at his tires and see if the fronts and rears are the same.

Just looked at front & rear.
Both the same
Continental HDR 225/70R 19.5. Regroovable (what ever that means)
Y'all have me concerned with the statement "not recommended for on-road use"

Re-grooveable means that the tire tread can be re-grooved with a tire iron to change the tread patttern. Commercial truck tires are also able to be recapped.

Do not get overly worried about it, it is just with the more aggressive tread and a heavy truck/load, the tires are more apt to follow the grooves in the road surface. Also since the tread is more aggressive, the steering axle tires do not wear as well. FYI more aggressive off road tires do not wear as well or handle as well on dry pavement in SRW trucks either.
Most likely the comment about recommended for off-road use is just to cover their backs incase something does arise about the handling difficulty of the traction tires.
You just have to realize that the tires for the 450s are commercial tires that are built with durabulity in mind. While the tires avaliable for 350s and under are light truck tires designed for durability as well as rider comfort.
