Question Hpop

My dad has an 06' and yesterday at the office it just died and wouldn't start. So they have it at Ford. He said it would crank over but wouldn't fire. He also was saying that from a stop sign it seemed to gradually get going faster. He was afraid to try and pull out on main streets because it would get going slow until the turbo spooled but then it would act the same as brand new. What exactly is the HPOP and what does it do. (Can find it on 6.0 Bible website) Could this be the problem why it won't start and the problems he was having before it quite. It is under warranty and the Ford place has it so if thats what it is will they replace it with an updated mounting bracket as from what i have read they do to ensure it won't fall out or something again?

That right, They actually add the bracket to support the HPOP. The issue was that the HPOP was recieving too much vibration and breaking the o-ring seal. If the computer doesn't see the High Pressure, +500psi, it will not allow fuel to the cylinders. This is normally a broken or not broken issue so I do not believe it to be the cause of his other problems.

What you aer describing just sounds like turbo lag. But you said "then it would act the same as brand new". My truck takes 2-3 seconds before the power is there, unloaded. Is the truck stock or modified at all? How many miles on it?

HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump). This unit is in charge of keeping the High Pressure oil circuit pressurized to a set value, I don't know the exact number but its high, several thousand psi I think. The High Pressure oil is what operates the injectors for the delivery of diesel into the cylinders.

Someone with more knowledge will chime in if I'm wrong. I'm just a coke bottle glasses helmet kind of guy so believe what you will.

Cheers!!

The truck is all stock with about 30000 miles on it but it just seems like when i have driven it that you can push the peddle down and until it senses that you can have the peddle down and still be accelerating normally. I know about the turbo lag and yeah about 2-3 secs to spool but that deadness at the start is what my dad is talking about?

Sorry I'm not that good, there are some good techs on here that will help you out soon. Best of luck. That sounds like a wierd one. I would just bring it in and let them worry about it. That's what they get paid for.
