I just got a 2001 PSD. A buddy drives a 2000 PSD and said he got a Diablo chip. His truck has a ton more power than mine, especially towing. What are the pluses and minuses to a Diabol chip? How many HP? Does the mileage go down?
The PSD leaves a lot of room for improvement with a chip.
Diablo has a 54, 70 and 90 HP program for the PSD. The 54 is suitable for all driving and gives the best mileage increase of about 1-3 mpg. The 70 HP is the favorite, gives a slight
mileage increase of 0-2 mpg. This chip is suitable for gross loads up to 12,000lbs. The 90 HP is not recommended unless you make modifications to the exhaust and install a gauge to monitor temps.
You'll also get firmer shifts, reducing the lag during shifts. This is especially nice when towing up hills!
