Just out of curiosity, when installing a new gas tank sending unit in an in cab tank for a 70 F-100, which way should the float face? To the front of cab, or the rear? I got one from DC and the inclosed instructions didn't show a lot of detail as to the float oreintation. I think the float may be draging on the tank as the guage has given me a reading of 3/4 and then 1/4. Acts like it's stuck until rounding a curve or making a turn from stop, when it returns to 3/4. Any replys greatly appreciated.
If it's anything like my '79 frame mounted gas tank...
In the direction where the readings are. The lowest resistance (ohms) should be when empty, and the highest for full. When you find the sides, install it.
In-Cab Tank: Install the sender so the width of the barrel shaped float faces directly forward. The largest portion of the float, when hooked to the rod, also faces directly forward.
