Wink Newbie

Hi,

My name is Tom. I ride a recumbent bike and I like to kayak. I do all of this in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Michigan. I am considering the purchase of a Ford van for use as a toy hauler and part time bare-bones camper.

I would love a diesel for its long life and cheap (currently) fuel price. My main concern with a diesel is the rediculously cold weather we have during some Winters. I would love to hear the experiences of anyone who has used a Ford diesel in extended cold weather.

Is a 4x4 van worth the extra money if I do not intend to go off-road?

Welcome Tom!

You are at the right site for information on your question. You will want to click on the Forums tab at the upper left and scroll over the list. The Super Duty and Heavy Duty forum might be a place to start. You can also try the General Automotive forum to see what others say. Look them over and feel free to post your questions. You will also like the state chapter forums since you can probably find areas to ride and kayak from the locals. They are located at the bottom of the Forums list.
