It's always better to install all new bearings and seals, especailly on a high milage unit. IF you have never changed a ring and pinion before you might want to read up on all the measurements and setting that need to be right-on. There are special tools needed to make the switch. If any of the clearances and measurements are out of spec, all your $$ will go down the drain.

I don't mean to offend, but this very basic question suggests that you have no idea how to do this. A gear set needs to be set up properly with the right tools. If you don't know exactly what this means, then you will probably trash your new ring and pinion within a few miles.
