well im going to be getting new tires soon so i figured i get new shocks put on also. My truck has 142000 miles on it, so i was thinkin about getting the bilstein shocks but i dont know which ones to get. My truck sits stock hieght will the shocks raise the truck any?
Last year I replaced my shocks with the Bilsteins front & rear.
My '02 PSD 7.3 CC was basically stock and I did not notice any change in the trucks overall appearance. I was noticing some tire wear and the new shocks seem to have corrected that problem.
I simply went on line and searched for the best pricing with free shipping and they arrived promptly. Installation was straight forward - just a little sweat and grunting.
How come I see Bilstein 5100 shocks on some sites and they are yellow and on other sites they are stainless or nickel colored? I would like to go with the Bilstein 5100s but I don't want the yellow. Is there a difference between the yellow and the stainless?

No, shocks are only dampening devices for the amount of travel caused by your springs. The only way a shock would raise your truck is if it was a spring assisted coil over shock, or an air shock that you had to pressurize.
5100 and above series are all zinc plated (sliver). They are pretty much for lifted trucks or off road type vehicles. They yellow ones are for vehilces at stock height. Check out there website for more info www.bilstein.com for more info. I have the 5100 series and love them, a little stiff at slow speed but great on the highway.
check out the KYB Monomax before you decide. I haul a 4000lb. slide in camper and they made a huge difference in the ride. With the camper off they are smooth and responsive. Very high quality, from a company that has been in business a long time.

No it will not change the height of your truck. Are these the original shocks with that many miles? If so it doesn't matter what brand you put on you'll be impressed with the improvement, and spend 3 weeks kicking yourself for waiting so long. I was stupid and waited until 155k to swap my factory shocks
Is anyone running dual Bilsteins on the front? I've run Bilsteins for years and just want to upgrade the appearance of the wheel well a bit. I guess I could fab up a dual mount, but if there is a good kit available I'd prefer that.
Fat Diesel, I have seen plenty of truck out here in Washington that run dual Bilsteins up front. Have thought about it a time or two. There are plenty of companies that make a dual set up. Any where from a decent price to a whopin price of "YOU GOT TO BE KIDDIN ME"!!!
I haven't ever run bilstein, I have always replaced stock unit with Moroe's. I currently have the Reflex series on my truck, I am happy with them, much improvement over stock.
