on the fuel tank make shure ther is a good ground between the sending unit and the tank if ther is no ground the gage will not read anything. check to make shure you have power to the dash I belive it a a lt blue wire with a stripe can remeber the stripe color
My truck is a 1967 F100. I had the same two problems that you are having now, not long ago.
After checking all the grounds. I took out the sending unit to find that the float was leaking and full of gas. Replaced the sending unit. No more problems.
After R&R the instrument panel to check all wires, after replacing the ignition switch etc. no luck. I was getting ready to buy a new light switch , I turned the **** a little side to side till I came to "the sweet spot" and the dash lights work.
