After my truck is driven at normal operating temp. And the outside temp is about 80 to 90 degrees out. My truck sometimes starts wierd. Yesterday I went into the grocery store and the truck sat outside for maybe a half hour to an hour not really sure. Anyways I went out to start it and it had a longer then usual crank time. It cranked over fast and started pretty normal. I notice that in the hotter months it dose crank over fast a little longer then if the truck had been sitting awhile maybe 3 or 4 hours in the same heat. One thing that makes me question it is when it dose start it dose a little bit of a LOP like a truck would do in the extreme cold. Only it dose it one time and right when it actully fires up. Then it runs fine with no problems. I have 81,000 on it I bought it with 60,000 I just replaced my 6637 filter and changed the oil replaced the glow plug relay once but not the glow plugs. The fuel filter once and it was clean then at 70,000 any thoughts on what it might be? I have never changed the CPS but have a new black one from ford in the glove box. Maybe that is on its way out?

hot start problems can be a problem with the IPR (injection pressre regulator) it can be loose, bad o-rings, orit could just be going out. it is located on the back of the HPOP (high pressure oil pump). here is some info on it: http://cw-diesel.com/LuxSite/IPRInfo.htm
thanks for the link. That seems like an easy item to look at it. It has never really bothered me that it dose the LOP thing it actully dosent do it all the time only in certian time parmeters and even then it dosent do it all the time. I will just wait and see if it get any worse or any better but at least I know what to look at when I decide to do something about it. Any other ideas would be great thanks Steven
You might also check the level of the oil in your HPOP after it has been sitting for awhile.. The oil level should be about 3/4" form the top.. Just remove the fill oil screw on top of the HPOP..If if is low, it would indicate your check valve is leaking. But, i would think it would also do it when it sits over night.. But, it quick to check anyway.
