Does your Hyperpac tune include tranny config's? Or is it just a engine tuner?
The instructions and ads say it is there, but mine don't have it. It does seem to vary the shift strength according to how hard I am accelerating. The harder I get on the throttle, the harder the tranny will connect. The only thing I am not too happy with is there is no change on the fly option, but it really don't matter because I cain't bring myself to taking it out of stage III anyway . I like the information the hyperpac supplies along with the dyno feature. The reviews I have read show the hyperpac dyno is as accurate as a bench dyno and is actually giving real world hp and torque readings.
I'm using a Hyperpac on my 05 and it supplies loads of power. I have gotten opinions from multiple mechanics who say this programer is mild enough not to do damage to the engine. I added the programer at 79000 and now my truck has 94000 on it with no problems and it pulls like a tractor! Also, the hypertech programers do not have towing limitations and do not have the defueling problems that some of the other programers have.
The Hypertech units do not properly address the Torqueshift and will lead to early tranny problems. Canned program tuners are one size fits all solution to a problem that needs to be properly address with custom tuning for your particular truck, load and driving style. Also the Hypertech unit cost over $200 more than and SCT XcalII.
If you want to tune the 6.0 & Torqueshift correctly get and SCT XcalII with "custom tunes" from Matt at LIPD or Eric at Innovative they are the leading tuning gurus for the 6.0 & Torqueshift.
I would avoid the Bullydog tuner like the plague. I did the try before you buy, and it made great power but the egt's were way up there. I'm glad I had a pyro guage.

I'm sure the power is great, but your going to ruin your tranny. Not trying to be an idiot but it will happen with that tuner. Make an investment in your truck and get an XCal2. As well, find a good programmer. As Blackhat stated, Matt at LIPD or Eric at ID.

I did not know that. What is the tuner doing to the tranny, and how much is the Xcal2?

A "tuner" with "custom tunes" can be programmed to control all parameters of the engine and transmission. Both the PCM and TCM control the transmission, all "chips/inline fuel modules" do Not change the transmission program from the stock FMC settings (some use defueling to try and lower the risk to the transmission). "Canned" program tunes on a tuner are a one size fits all solution that is a compromise at best.
A "tuner" with "custom tunes" can be programmed by the program writer to optimize the engine and transmission parameters based on your truck, driving style and load.
The FMC factory transmission program is lacking, in that there is inherent slip programmed into the strategy so that the transmission shifts smooth, if the transmission shifted crisp most soccer moms would complain.
The SCT XcalII with "custom tunes" from Matt at LIPD is $450. This includes all the tunes and customization you ever want for as long as you own the truck and tuner. www.lidiesel.com
Personally I am going to try to stack an edge on top of a bullydog, and a six gun banks for my next tuner. I want to see "just how many licks it takes to toast a torqshift" NOT!!
Honestly though, after 3 years of reported problems, I still am amazed at how many more people come in here week after week asking the same question, or posting the same results. The Xcal is THE ONLY tuner that should ever be installed on a 6.0 period. Everything else just plain sucks. The only one I would recommend as far as a "canned tuner" would be the SCMT 1704, as I had one for 2 years on 2 different trucks and never had a problem running it. For a few dollars extra spent on the Xcal you get a 100 times more options and complete tunability.
