Kepps flickering on at odd times. No real rhyme or reason....sometimes at cruising speed, sometimes at idle.
I put a new Motorcraft filter in and it still does it. Could this actually be an indication of overall low fuel pressure as a result of a weakening fuel pump?
Any ideas??
Also get a CEL every once in a while and that hadn't ever happened before.
Looking forward to any suggestions you folks might have.
This light is not an indication of fuel pressure, so it's not the fuel pump. Get it scanned to see if there is a stored code.
The plugged fuel filter sender on the side of the FPR may need replacing. Check the wiring too. It looks like an oil pressure sender. It's sometimes called a vacuum switch. Here's some part numbers for ya:
Fuel Filter Restricted sensor; on filter housing 94/95; on regulator block 96/97
