Time to order my Superchip

Well guys, I think I am about to lay down some money for a Superchip for my 92 explorer sport. i got the box code and am ready to buy. I need a little push to actually do it though. I know about the gains, but I see a little difference in prices. So, I need you guys to convince me to buy from you. I have heard about your great customer service, and am willing to sacrafice price for that. What kind of excellent services do you guys offer? Also, I was wondering how long it usually takes to get the chip here too. Thanks guys and hopefully I will be ordering from ya soon.

Time to order my Superchip

The fact that we are the largest Ford truck web site on the Internet and have answered your questions about chipping your SUV ought to be convincing enough....

Years ago I worked at a computer store selling PCs. I was an expert on the systems I sold. I knew the hardware, I knew the software and I knew how to program PCs. Every now and then someone would come in and pump me with questions about which choices and options were best for their needs. I'd spend time answering their questions so they could make an informed choice.

Then they would proceed to tell me they were going down the street to buy it for less. The store down the street hired teenagers who knew virtually nothing about the systems they sold (except they could tell you about the games available). When those customers came back asking for advice or service after they bought elsewhere I told them to ask the store they bought from and I'm sure in many cases it cost them more in the long run.

There's a lesson to be learned from that story.

We keep track of prices on the Internet and right now we are below the average cost.

If you're going to purchase from a dealer that did not give you technical advice because of a difference of perhaps $10-$20, then maybe price is a bigger factor for you and you need to call that dealer up and have them convince you to buy from them. If you choose to buy elsewhere, perhaps the best course of action is to ask the other dealer to provide answers to your questions.

That decision may or may not cost you a lot more than $20 in the long run, especially if your Ford's computer has ever been reflashed and the Superchip doesn't work the first time around. A Superchip will not work if a dealership has reflashed your computer unless we can figure out what they reflashed to. Other Superchip dealers may not cover the cost of additional shipping if that happens but we do.

Chips ordered from us usually take 2-4 days to arrive.

Time to order my Superchip

Thank you very much for your reply to my message. I never meant to question whether or not I was going to buy from you guys. there was about a 99% chance that I would. I just wanted to make sure you guys were going to be as helpful as I hoped you would be. I will be ordering my chip online through you guys shortly after completing this note. A couple of follow up questions for you though. What should I be looking for to tell whether or not the chip is doing its job properly after intallation. Obviously performance, I know. But some of this talk about chips needing to be reprogrammed leaves me a little in the dark. I know you guys will handle all the reprogramming, but how do I tell it needs it. I cannot find any labels on the radiatior, and am almost certain it has not been reflashed since I have owned the truck. I guess what I am trying to ask is, does the engine not start, does it knock real bad, what does the truck do that tells yout you need to have it reprogrammed? Also, I know you need premium fuel while running the chip, but I have a full tank of 87 sitting in my explorer right now. I would assume it would be fine to put the chip in and begin running premium at my next fill up. or would it be better to wait till my next fill up to put the chip in. I am hoping your answer is the first. Thank you for all your advice, and trust me you have a return customer in me.

If the chip you get needs to be reflashed, you'll know it. If the chip is properly installed and the SUV doesn't start, then a dealer has reflashed your computer and the chip would need to be reprogrammed. You would then pull the chip out (and your SUV will then start) and call us. Sometimes we'll handle it, sometimes we'll defer it directly to Superchips and reimburse your shipping if that will expedite getting it corrected.

If the SUV has ever been into the dealer, even for an oil change, the dealer may have reflashed it. It takes them about 2 minutes to refash it and for many dealers its standard operating procedure to reflash if Ford has an update.

You cannot run a tank of 87 octane with the chip. The vehicle will pre-detonate (ping) like crazy and that's not good. On some Fords the knock sensor will back the timing off, but don't count on it.

Time to order my Superchip

I guess that means that I gotta wait until I run all this gas out of my Explorer before I install the superchip huh? I was also wondering if you knew when my order went out. I placed it late monday night and was banking on it shipping out early tuesday. Just anxious to get it. Thanks for all your help.

Time to order my Superchip

Any order placed after 2:30 pm is the same as placing it the next day since we ship at 2:30 pm. Monday is our busiest day because orders from 2:30 pm Friday to 2:30 pm Monday are processed. Most of the time, Monday orders usually spill over into Tuesday. Your chip was programmed this morning and will ship out today.
