It actually took the hit pretty well. Mostly skin--I doubt the frame was spoiled. The problem with so much steel in those wrecks of old, was that they did a miserable job of scrubbing off energy before it was transferred to the driver. They were trucks built to last and nary a seatbelt in those days.
I just realized that they bondo'd over the fender-to-front-extension joint on the left fender, I have a feeling there is a lot of hidden stuff under that bright paint...but, you would get a 302 & A/T, hanging pedals, decent cab (?), running boards, and bed, maybe a 9"? sell off the wheels, could be a money maker...
That's exactly what I was thinking. This would be a perfect donor to make my 51 Panel a reality. I already have a frame w/an MII front end and a 9" rear end for it. It's also already boxed. All I need is the running gear and the hanging pedals would be a plus.
I think that someone might just by the truck for the rims and then scrap it. I just want the truck.
The windsheild is gone so is the mirror. It could be that someone went through the glass in the crash. THe colunm seems to be at an odd angle. But the wheel shows no sign of bending.
The rims cost about $600 - 800 apiece; I can't believe they are made in 5 @ 5.5" so it probably doesn't have the stock front end. That is an outrageous price to pay, sight-unseen. The frame could be toast, who knows what kind of suspension it has, and how it was done.

I wasn't after the frame. I was after the engine, trans, brake set up/system, and the steering components.
I already have a good bare frame with a MII suspension.
I was then going to part out the truck's body.
It would have cost me about $400 in gas just to get it. I was on a very tight budget considering that it was sight unseen.
