about 1400 dollars for the afr 165's... if youre going a 331 or bigger you should probably get afr 185's... theyre about 50 dollars more and flow way better... but youd lose some low end over the 165's if you tried to throw them on a 302
im in 1600 dollars on my afr 185's for my 347 stroker, but thats because i had to get the valve spring upgrade so they could handle the cam im putting in. im still waiting for them though... theyre on back-order
im not racing mine, the cam isnt quite big enough for that... but the car is about a hundred pounds lighter than a fox mustang almost makes up for the extra hundred pounds on me

i'm assuming this is for an old bronco?? Its tough no matter what you do to a 302 to keep the torque and hp at a useable truck RPM 1000 to 5000. 300 hp isnt that hard to do but you chase the hp and torque into such high rpms you have either built a mustang engine or you need a stall converterto get the thing off the line. it might work out if you are builting a mud truck. My 347 combo only makes 300 hp at 4000 rpms, but it holds over 385 ft lbs of torque from 2000 rpms to 4000 rpms. peak torque of 409 @ 3500rpms. Another 347 combination i saw was making 450 hp on the engine and 400 ft lbs of torque but its was peaking out in the 5000 to 6000 rpms and was about a 5000.00 motor easy. My combinnation made nearly 100 ft lbs of torque more at 2000 rpms and about 30 more hp at 2000 rpms. thats the towing power and the seat of you pants acceleration with out needing to shift down 2 gears to get a 5000 lb truck moving and thats using stock parts for the most part other than the rotating assembly under 2 grand invested.
nah its for my 1975 ford maverick... should be around 2900 lbs... about 3200 with me. if i had an old bronco id have just thrown a 351w in... maybe gone a 408 stroker- and had all kinds of low end torque... but the maverick is too narrow for a 351w so i had to just deal with my 302 block, so ive got about 6000 dollars into a short rod 347 stroker, afr 185's, hydraulic roller cam,1700 rpm stall to go with the cam, roller rockers, headers, motor mounts, tranny mounts (had to get a special one for dual exhaust), retrofitting the fuelie block for a carb, new front sump pan because the dual sump wouldnt fit, and of course all the little odds and ends you remember for an engine build. i definitely didnt need to spend 1600 dollars on an all forged rotating assembly balanced and good for 1200 horse, i could have gotten by just fine with a cast crank, but the balancing would have cost more, and for the 200 dollars more i figure peace of mind not having to worry about it is worth it... that thinking was how i ended up spending 6000 dollars on a build that could have cost about 3000 had i used more stock parts, but in the end i think itll be worth it to have the maverick be a reliable 350 horse daily driver.

if i wanted nitrous or forced induction i could easily double the power output, but then id have to spend another 1600 dollars on an aftermarket block and 500 or so for some lower compression forged pistons and good rings, and bolt all my stuff into that... but it would be fun
Yes it is an early bronco. I would like to put a 351w in it but I just put $600-$700 in the last month r so,and have $1500 in it with about 400 miles on the rebiuld. probably th only thing that will work with the 351 r carb and headers?
I decided to get my motor bored out .040 over. I had the pistons laying around + I had cracked a piston and scored the block pretty bad started burnin some oil..
