My Father owns a 2000 F-250 with a v-10 and an auto tranny. The o/d switch is on the end of the column shifter. When you push the button it will not turn o/d off. Is this problem common? Would it be the contacts in the switch?
Take the plastic cover off of the steering column. The screws are in the bottom of the cover.
Look at the wires where they enter the shifter. They are worn through or broken. You can get a new shifter for about $50 or fix the wires that are there.
