looking to buy an SCT xcal II in the near future. Was wondering if there were any other mods to do along with this to help keep the truck running as efficiently as possible with the least amount of problems. i have an 07 f350 6L
So can I use a Superchips tuner with a Bullydog Outlook Monitor for guages? I like the outlook monitor because of ease of installation and the fact that it can read most of the parameters out of the OBD port, and I like the SCT because it also controls the tranny.
i was just about to ask the same thing. the sct seems to be the best out there but as far as guages go i was wondering if we can stack anything on top of the sct.

Unless Bullydog changed the software on the outlook(and I dont know about their new monitor/tuner that they have out, looks like the A2), you won't be able to use a different "chip" with the outlook monitor for the 6L. They used to have the option "outlook w/other", but my guess is that they had to take that out of the software when they added the tranny gauge for their defuel based on tranny temp software when used with the triple dog.
so if i get the sct xcall 2 and a different monitor such as the outlook, dashhawk, or quadzilla will any of these allow me to have shift on the fly power? or does that depend on the tuner alone? also does mixing and matching increase the chance of engine troubles? sorry for all the questions guys new to the whole diesel upgrades....tryin to understand it all. thanks for all the help
Beerstalker is correct on the SCT and shutting off and upload the new file, as far as the outlook is concerned, I wasn't able to use it with the SCT because I had the tranny software on there and as such didn't have the "w/other" option, but I would imagine that you would keep the monitor in the stock setting(or maybe it doesn't matter which setting it is in in reality, but if I had the ability to use it as a display that is how I would do it) and just use it to display what parameters you want it to display.
Thanks guys.
For me, knowing what the truck is doing is more important that more power or speed. Looks like I'll probably get the Outlook monitor and see what it does and then make a decision on whether to go with the SCT or just stick with Bullydog for tunes.
Many people on here have ended up with engine/transmission problems when running the Bullydog programmer, you may want to go down to the 6.0L forum and read up on that.
Thanks guys.

Stay far away from the Bulldog, Edge, Diablosport, Dr.P Banks if you want your engine and transmission to last.
If you are going to tune your truck the only way to go is with the SCT XcalII with "custom tunes" from Matt at LIPD. www.lidiesel.com
If you want digital gauges instead of analog go with the "Quadzilla Commander" for gauges, it works with the SCT XcalII.
Stay away from the SCT "Livewire" as it is still in Beta testing and has issues.
BTW SCT is NOT "Superchips" they are two different companies.
Go down to the 6.0 Section of the forum and read. 99% of all your questions have already been answered there. Also read the 6.0 Tech folder.
SCT livewire is NOT in Beta testing. We have been using it on the 6.0L trucks and it works great wioth standard and custom tunes.
SCT still has not got all the advertised features to work correctly yet, and it was not to long ago "Storm" had issues with a lost factory PCM program (twice) and then his "Livewire" lost its serial #.
SCT still has some work to do yet on the "Livewire" before it is ready for general use.
Here is a direct quote from "ChrisM" SCT Administrator/employee, and is current through today as shown on the SCT forum help page for the "Livewire"
"I have been testing this firmware for release. The firmware has not passed final testing yet. I cannot give you a specific date because we are working on a few issues. We are getting close, but as you all know it is not worth releasing software that adds features but has a few issues. I can assure you it will be made available as soon as it has been fully tested and it is ready. We have been working very hard to get this release out the door as soon as possible... I can assure you it will be made available as soon as it has been fully tested and it is ready."
This was after promising this update would be ready on 6/8/07 and then again on 6/12/07.
As of today 6/19/07 datalogging/monitor function still does not work properly on the "Livewire" and the Boost psi reading is not properly operational along with reading IAT2
Also SCT hopes to have a fix for the "poor quality" screens on the "Livewire" by this week maybe.
So maybe when they get done "Beta" testing the "Livewire" it will be fit for general public release.
