Steel Wheels?

Just wondering if anyone is running steel wheels on their F150 Im looking at these http://www.ntwonline.com/acb/showdetl.cfm?&DID=48&Product_ID=1837&CATID=11

Now I know they are heavier will this cause unwanted vibes?
is this a good choice?

Also whats the bolt size? 5x5.5?

My factory wheels were aluminum but the XL packages come with steel.

If you have an unbalanced condition you will have vibrations but not just from a heavier wheel.

Thumbs up

i run those exact wheels only the procomp version, check out my gallery you will see them, they are considerably heavier than the stock wheels, but they i believe are also considerably stronger, and they look oh so fine! I have never had unwanted vibrations of any kind. you should check out the procomp wheels in my sig, and if those dont suite your taste, american racing has similar ones, the ar-767 series, they are pretty much the same, black powder coated stell wheels, however the ar-767s have a thin red and blue line around the outside, they all look sweet, and the procomps are a great price, what colour is your truck?

The 17" chromeclad Lariat wheel is steel (w/plastic chromeclad face & center cap) and is the heaviest OEM wheel at just under 40#

The common 17" teardrop style alloy (w/plastic chrome center cap) weighs 24# for comparison.

My '99 XLT has steel wheels and it doesnt have any more vibration than any other F-150.
Steel wheels will lower your fuel economy slightly because they have more unsprung weight than aluminum wheels.

I was looking for the same wheel for my 02 F150 (2wd) I know they do not make those simulated bead locks (in black steel) in a 16" with 5 on 135mm.

They are really uncommon thanks to the bolt circle, but I know Mickey Thompson sells the aluminum wheels with simulated locks, take a look at those too. You could always powder coat the MT wheels black and they will be lighter.

BTW, my XL has alloy wheels - might have been an option from the factory - I am the 2nd owner of the F150.

Unless its lifted, I dont think beadlocks would look right on a 4x2. Beadlocks are more off an offroad thing. You see them more on trucks that are designed to be desert prerunners.

Most race trucks are only 2wd.

The wheels that did not have the simulated locks are hard to find also.

Actually, the race trucks are mostly 4x4s. The prerunners (basically the practice trucks) are the ones that are 4x2s.
