I just replaced the clutch in my 76 F-100 and when I put it back together the adjustement screw is still halfway out. The flywheel is to spec and so is the clutch. My question is could there be something bent on the clutch pedal assembly? I hate that I have a new clutch and it's still adjusted halfway out!
Probably just worn. Check all the joints and bushings. I needed to replace the bushings where the pedal pivots and replace the vertical rod that goes through the floor because it was worn very thin.
Also check your cab mounts. It's fairly common for the cab mounts to get rusted and start to let the cab sink. This will change the clutch linkage adjustment a lot. I thought my clutch was shot - turned out the mounts were shot and had to be replaced. Made a huge difference in the clutch pedal and the steering.
Where can I get cab mounts? Are they hard to change?? How many bushings are in the pedal? I noticed yesterday that the lever in between the clutch rod and the adjuster has some play in it but for the life of me I can't figure out where to even start with it?
I just got done replacing the rear main yesterday. (yeah two weeks after I replaced my clutch, what luck huh?) and the adjuster is waaay too far out for me to be driving it. I mean it's almost all the way out and the last thing I need is to be stranded.

First look at yer cab mounts and see if they are collapesed. And then you will see what it will take to replace them. I am a good one for straping a 2X4 to the frame to get the cab back up and just keep on going.
Nah, the cab mounts arn't collapsed but the bushings are cracked and the body definately isn't sitting as high as it was when it was new! Right now all I need to do is replace the bushings but it hasn't been a major priority untill this clutch issue came up.
