i would like to lower the rear end of my 69 f100 but i cant figure out a good way to do it. ive heard of drilling shackles and lowering blocks but i dont know how i should do it. i only want to drop it a couple of inches so it will set about level with the front of the truck.
I've never lowered one but I'd suggest you talk to a spring shop.Leaf springs can be rearced to lift a vehicle so I imagine the same can be done to lower it.I would be careful as to how far you drop it though as it could create problems from bottoming out when you hit a bump. Hope this helps.
on these trucks you cannot use blocks because the axle sits below the leaf springs. You could dearch the spings but that will cost you at a shop and you will loose carring capasity. There is someone that makes shakels to fit these trucks but can't remember who this woluld probly be your best option, but if chep is name of the game then grind off the rivits that hold the shakel braket on drive out with a punch move up and drill new holes in the frame and reattach with grade 8 hardware.
If you're only looking for a few inches, just do and axle swap on the leaf springs(move the axle to the top of the leaf springs). I've done it on quite a few trucks just to level them out. You might have to get some new U-bolts, but for the most part it's a pretty easy modification.
