Chips for 86 F150????
I have an '86 that I put a 351w in but retained the computer for the 302. Is there a "chip" that works decent on the early EFI? I was told years ago that the on board computer would adjust itself to account for any chip and just return you to the original settings.

I just read further down in the posts and Ken says it can be done. About what would it cost to purchase or have one made up? It's, as I mentioned before, an '86 5.0 computer with a '91 351w engine from a Bronco.

Supercab with 33's.
Also, would I gain much running a cooler thermostat? It seems to have a BUNCH more power when it's not quite warmed up all the way.

No, the computer won't override the chip. But quite honestly, you probably won't be happy with a chipped 86 ECU. The gains are only about 5%. The cooler thermostat causes the truck to run richer. Yeah, it can sometimes give more power but it will also cause carbon build-up and higher emissions.
