I've seen a few threads about removing these stickers and replacing them with other variations. Has anyone removed them and left it? Was the paint a different shade compared to the paint adjacent to it? Do they remove easily?
I really don't care for the look of the FX4 sticker on my Torreador red F-350. The sticker has a weird red which looks a little funny against the paint of the truck. I'd like to remove them and leave it blank.
The stickers can be removed by using a heat gun. Get it warm, almost hot and start peeling it from one corner. Work with the heat gun as you go. You could try a hair dryer if you don't have a heat gun but I'm not sure it will get hot enough.
Depending on the age and condition of the paint, you will notice where the sticker was. Scratches mainly but paint can be faded around the sticker too. I usually buff my truck out when I remove my company lettering before I sell them. Takes care of the scratches, but doesn't do anything for the fading.
A hair dryer should work, when I did mine one side of my truck was in the sun and that was hot enough for me to pill it off, My truck is black so that probably makes a little difference. I never put anything back on and unless you look close you cant really tell it had stickers.
I pulled the FX4 stickers off my truck when it was less than one month old. It sat in the sun for the day and I just got my fingernail under one corner of the sticker and carefully pulled them off. You cannot tell where the stickers were from any angle, no matter the lighting. My truck is dark satin green.
Definitely use the hair dryer first. You can cause some major damage to your paint and clear coat if you get it to hot with the heat gun. Like these guys said, let it sit in the sun for a couple hours and you could probally peel it off no problem. If not, a little added heat from a hair dryer will get 'er done!
peeled mine off, in the sun. the only down side was that there was a little glue left on there. I just sprayed some WD40 on to a rag and wiped it right off.
Did mine about 6 months ago while waiting in line at the car wash. Got a fingernail under an adge and SLOWY just peeled it off. No marks left at all. My truck is white but I dont see any reason why yours would be any different. It is getting hot now so it should be even easier. Good luck!
