Keyless Entry

Well, I just bought a 2006 F250 without keyless entry and would like to now have it added.

Can anyone help me out with what my options are as I'm unsure if i need a whole alarm system...are there different ways of douing this etc.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

You can get the keyless entry added without an alarm. Most car audio or tint shops can do it for you if you don't want to do it yourself. They usually don't beep the horn when it locks, but it will lock/unlock your doors. I had one installed on my 02.

You can get a keyless entry setup from the dealer. Takes about 30 mins to install.

The only thing you have to make sure that you have are electric locks. If you dont then you have to buy the electric motors to lock your truck...etc and that would be a pain!

I'm in a similar situation. I just bought a 99 F-250 XLT but I only got one key and no key fobs with it... its got power everything and the Ford parts guy looked up the VIN and said it looked like it should have keyless entry.

So I buy the fob and no matter what I do I cant get it working. So my question is how do I know for sure whether I really have the remote keyless entry module or not?

Tek69-This is on another thread....
Your trucks may be equipped with the keyless entry feature. To find out, follow this procedure for programming the key fob transmitters.

Place the key in the ignition and turn from LOCK to OFF. Then cycle between OFF and ON eight times in rapid succession (within 10 seconds) with the eighth turn ending in the ON position. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that programming mode has been entered.

If you do this and the truck responds, then the truck is equipped with keyless entry and all you will need to do is to purchase some key fob transmitters and program them according to the instructions in your owners manual

Yeah, I did that dozens of times. Pretty much convinced I didn't have the option. Ended up having a nice after market alarm system installed along with keyless.

Thanks for the heads up though.

I only know about my Ranger, Its off to on (Not start)
four times and the doors will lock and unlock.

My 150 does nothing, but I have power locks.
Got a $65 quote from a radio place to add the
remote entry.
