performance headers

Hello to all my Ford brothers.

Who here has put performance headers on their superduty? I was thinking of putting a set on but wanted to find out what you guys think about them, what is a good brand, size of the tubes and how the performance is, all that good stuff.

If anyone has any info. I am all ears

thank you
Nathan

I dont know what brands make headers for your year truck, but I think they are a good upgrade if you have run out of Mods to do..lol. If I were you though I would not just do Headers unless you plan on doing some custom tuning, custom tuning will net you more HP if its done right and you have a better breathing intake than the stock one. Thats my two cents.

I used the Gibson shorty header on my 2001. Meanly because they were the only option available when I did it two years ago. I like them. They woke up the motor, sound good and have stayed tight for the last two years. I think there are some more options now. I think I saw some long header somewhere but I am not looking for some anymore so I forgot where. But I love these Gibson headers I got.

I don't know if these will fit the SD but they look nice:

I think the short headers designed for the F150s have a better chance of fitting the SD.

thanks for the responses.
I was thinking about the Gibsons and its good to know they last long. What material make did you get soilman? ceramic?stainless?
I already have an airaid jr intake and a flowmaster exhaust system, so I know have all three components working together will make for some good HP and sound. As far as a tuner, i will wait on that till after.

One more question. will these mods ruin or alter my transmission?

Thanks

I have the ceramic. The Ceramic coatings reduce under hood temps slightly and protect the metal. Definitely worth the extra $140

I have went from the muffler back. It runs great and sounds monsterous. When you can set off car alarms even when you are on the other side of the street you know the sound is just right.......haha

Sorry I have been out of town and away from the email. I use mine for mud bog so I didn't care how they looked. I just the regular headers and they are rusted up and discolored but I didn't go for looks. The heat reduction from the ceramic would be nice. I have it closed up some to keep mud out and it gets hot under the hood.

05Ford you have a 2wd right? The power you add from these mods will not hurt the trans. Oversize tires will throw off your shift points and need to be correctted but I guess this is not a problem you would have either.
