Just curious about the expected gas mileage on the '91 Explorer I am buying, could some of you post the mileage you are getting with your Explorers? I seem to have been thinking in error that I would get 18 city and 21 highway from this thing. And have only found out recently that it will not be anywhere near that.
Hmm answered my own question it seems. According to www.fueleconomy.gov I should get 14 mpg city, and 19 mpg highway. That is for a 1991 4 dr Explorer w/auto trans. Mine is a 2 dr w/ manual trans, so maybe a hair higher.
Ah, so I did, however, looking at the report in the link, it states it is a 4x4 4dr with auto. So mine should get at least that, if not a bit better. Of course, that Explorer was most likely tested brand new, and mine has either 75k or 175k on it, so who knows what I will get in the real world.
The '76 has been very reliable and I would trust it to go anywhere, however, the mileage is killing me, and I can't afford to keep it as a daily driver. If I can, I would like to just use it for camping trips, and use the Explorer for everything else, but I don't know if I will be able to afford both trucks.
