Unhappy So long Sharp Ford.

It appears Ford is going to cut down on "dealing" by cutting the number of franchises. An unfortunate target of this is Sharp Ford, who sold Fords since a man named Henry built them in any color you wanted, as long as it was black.

I bought my 2004 F-150 Heritage and I've had all my service done at Sharp Ford. They treated me well, did good quality work and didn't rip people off like some stealerships.

Gonna miss ya' Sharp Ford.

They closed as of Tuesday night.

If you don't like Skillman you might give Matlock down in Franklin a try. For trucks I've heard John Walton Ford (the former Larry Bird Ford) in Martinsville is the place to go.

I know this is a late post but thought I would throw my input out there. I do agree that Burd ford is a good dealership, especially with their new location (less than 5 minutes from my house). I had been to Sharp numerous times delivering parts (I work for Blossom Chevrolet, yes I know work for Chevy drive a Ford =)), and their employees were always really nice. I ran into a former Sharp employee down in Shelbyville while we were both dropping off parts to a collision center, and he said it was really gut wrenching that they closed because he had been with them for years and had always gone with them when he bought vehicles and had service done.

Anyone know if another dealer will take over that location or what they're going to do with the building?

Ford Corporate bought the franchise from Sharp Ford with the intention of cutting back the number of dealerships in the market. There will not be another dealer on that location. I'm curious to see if Ford will do the same to Crossroads L/M that is next door to the former Sharp location.

Ford already refused transfer of franchises for a large number of rural dealerships, at least a dozen in downstate Illinois that I'm aware. These rural dealerships would keep maybe 5-10 cars on the lot, special ordered almost everything and mostly performed service work.

There had to of been some Ford dealerships around the city that weren't performing as well as Sharp that they could have gotten rid of instead. Sharp always seemed to be booming and had great location.
